2) What instruments do you teach?

We offer lessons for guitar, piano, ukulele, drums, voice and music theory. You can choose to learn one or more of these instruments at a time.

3) How often do lessons happen and how long is each lesson?

Lessons are once per week and are thirty minutes in length.

4) Do students have to have their own instrument to start lessons?

You can take the first lesson without having an instrument and we strongly suggest that you get an instrument to play as soon as possible (preferably by the second lesson) to get the most from your lessons.

5) How old do you have to be to take lessons?

The starting age for taking lessons varies depending on the person. We can give lessons to students age four and above if there is a strong level of excitement about learning the instrument. If their excitement level is not at about a seven or above on a scale from 1 to 10, then we recommend waiting until they are a bit older to start. Any age group above three is welcome including adults and seniors.

6) What do students learn in their American Guitar Academy Music Lessons?

The American Guitar Academy Learning Method allows students to learn up to eight times faster and build complete confidence. Using the latest advances in the neuro and learning sciences and over thirty years of development, this method helps students build a strong foundation of skills, knowledge and musical confidence simultaneously during each lesson. The lessons cover how to play the most important skills on their instrument, the understanding and theory of how music works, cutting edge learning strategies and confidence building techniques. Among many other things, students learn how to speed up learning anything, how to organize their efforts for maximum confidence, how to play their favorite music, how to learn to play any type of music easily, how to write their own songs, how to perform confidently and much more. The lessons are tailored to each student's learning style, the types of music they are most excited about and the student's and parent's goals for their lessons.

7) What days and times do you have available for lessons?

We offer lessons Monday through Sunday between the hours on 9AM to 9PM PST. Each student selects a thirty minute time slot that is convenient for them on a regular basis, and these time slots are given on a first come first serve basis. You may change your weekly lesson time to any other available lesson day or time at any point.

8) How long will it take before I can play?

While each student is different in what they are most excited to play and in their level of commitment to playing between lessons, most students can confidently play many of their favorite songs within about seven lessons or less. Because of the precision with which our learning method guarantees results, your expected practice time between lessons is much less than with other lessons and we can adjust it for your schedule no matter how busy you are. With about ten minutes per day or less completing the simple skill building exercises between each of your lessons you can guarantee consistent progress towards what you are most excited to play. While shorter lengths of times are possible, to get the most from your lessons, we suggest a minimum of twelve to thirty six months in order to begin experiencing your full range of musical confidence and possibilities.

9) How much practice time is expected between lessons?

We have completely flexible practice plans to fit any schedule. Because of the precision with which our learning method guarantees results, your expected practice time between lessons is much less than with other lessons and we can adjust it for your schedule no matter how busy you are. The practice plans range from about ten minutes per day between lessons to zero hours per week depending on your schedule and goals.

Students most often learn best when each lesson can be tailored to their exact learning style and specific musical interest, but we do offer the ability for parents or siblings to be in the same lesson. There is no additional cost for this.

12) How much do lessons cost?

We offer three main lesson plans designed to help keep your monthly tuition costs to a minimum. Lessons are paid by the month in advance of each new month.
